honey yogurt mask | suzyhomemaker.net

Making homemade beauty products not only decreases the amount of toxins your body is exposed too, many times it can be less expensive and simple.

This honey yogurt face mask is one example. You may already have honey and yogurt in your kitchen, so you would not have to buy any new products. And if it is safe to eat, it may be safe to put on your skin.

This mask also has ingredients that help support skin regeneration and is great if you have dry sensitive skin.

Ingredients

~1/4 cup plain yogurt - the lactic acid in yogurt can be a very gentle exfoliator
~1 Tbsp raw honey - honey is a humectant - which attracts mositure and brings it to your skin
4 drops  frankincense oil oil is fantastic for skin. It is very nourishing and has properties that help with skin regeneration.
4 drops lavender essential oil

Directions

Mix all ingredients in a container. Place a thick layer on your face and let sit for about 5 minutes. Wash off with a gentle washcloth or just your hands.

6 real food DIY gifts - suzyhomemaker.net

Another day, another list of real food gifts. If you missed it, I made a list of 12 stocking stuffers to give to a real foodie. This list is all DIY gifts. Things you can make easily and inexpensively.

  1. Taco seasoning - This is my favorite taco seasoning. I have used it in countless ways including:
    1. Taco dressing
    2. Crockpot chicken
    3. Taco quinoa bites
  2. Vanilla extract - Although this will not be ready right away, you can still give it as a gift and let the recipient know when it will be ready to use.
  3. Hot chocolate mix - This mix has all real food ingredients. Nothing scary or over-processed.
  4. Gingerbread spice mix - Gingerbread just seems Christmas-y to me.
  5. Portable smoothie mixes - This is a perfect real food gift for those who love smoothies, or for anyone that is planning on eating healthy after the new year. (isn't that pretty much everyone?)
  6. Homemade magic shell - Who know what ingredients are lurking in the store-bought kind. Why bother when it is super simple to make your own.

DIY pom pom rug

This pom pom rug is the perfect spot to slow down, be present and enjoy simple living
Over the last several years I have grown to love and embrace simple living and appreciating the present. After making your rug, stick around to find simple recipes, simple nutrition and simple ways to natural health.

This little DIY pom pom rug project took so much more time and effort than I anticipated. I thought it would take a couple weeks, but about 4 months later I am finally done. I actually finished it last month, but just got around to the post now. I think when I finally finished it, I just needed a break from thinking about it.  But it was worth it.

For this rug, which is about 40 inches in diameter, I made approximately 150-175 pom poms. I actually did not do a final count, but there were a lot.
